Book mark the new skype room you just entered!

On the left is an image on a Mac, on the right on a PC.

Now, the room can be found under favorites.

Close a window with the X (PC) or the red button (Mac).

You don't want to leave the room. You will lose the whole history!

When you leave a skype room with the green Leave Chat button, the chat window will close and it will be gone.

Any past and current chats will be lost to you. You can only go back in with the link to join or if someone adds you again. Still, the history is empty now!

I don't know if you find it in "Latest Chats" because I have not left a room like that before. If you don't want to leave, but just close the window: Look under "Close a Window".

 

Let's say you are busy, on the phone, skyping or even working and you cannot have all those chat windows popping up. There are different things you can do.

Now, choose one of the three options. If you choose the third you can write several words in there, for instance your name or any other keyword that you would like to be alerted.

Of course, you can go any time into the chat room and read what's been going on since you were there last.

But that is only for public rooms, private chats still pop open. You can prevent that by choosing DND mode.

There are two ways to add people to a chat room. Promote a Chat or add them. It depends on the chat room and what the owner wants. So, check out the guidelines of the room or ask the room owner.

1) Add to a Chat room

Click on the button, find the person you want to add in your list. Add them. They will show up in the chatroom. Everybody will see you added them. Now, send a little message into the room, like welcoming the new person so the room pops open for them.

2) Promote a Chat

This will produce a very long link. Send it to someone by email or Skype to invite them to your room (or to a room you belong to).

If you send a link to someone you might want to let the room know (or the owner/hosts) that you invited someone, best give them their Skype ID name, so they can greet them and know they are coming from you and not from out of cyberspace.

You are welcome to send them to this page so they learn how to book mark, close and leave a room.

Sometimes, especially if you are in several rooms and have lots of contacts, those chat windows keep popping up and keep interrupting your work flow. But you don't want to miss anything.

The easiest way is to go on DND mode (do-not-Disturb) that way all the messages will be there when you are ready and have time.

Or write some keywords into Chat Notification Settings.

Put some keywords, like your name or a topic you are interested in, and the room will only show up in your events list when those keywords are being mentioned.

If you don't want any windows popping up open, no skype rooms, no private chats, you choose DND mode (do-not-disturb).

You will not miss anything because you can find all the chats in the events list.

When you close a room or a private chat and later you open it again, often the text is gone.

Or you want to know what's been going on the day before or in a private chat, what you have been talking about.

On top of the window you have this choice: click on the one you want. Afterwards it's gone, no more choice :-) unless you close (not leave) the room/chat again and come back in

 

Skype is a great tool to chat, communicate and share stuff with other people. But it's slow and complicated if you have a team or a group you want to share information.
